Andean Shamanism is intimately tied to the cycles of Mother Earth/Pachamama. There are two forces that are unlimited in nature: the desire to create and the desire to maintain. This dynamic extends directly into human sexual energy. From an energetic point of view, a person engaging in sex is fulfilling one of these two functions. To understand this further, we need to examine the two types of energies that humans predominantly interact with: Hucha and Sami. Hucha is considered dense energy; it tends to have a toxic side effect on the body and surroundings. Sami is considered light energy, illuminating and clearing all those dense energy pockets that tend to make us feel sluggish and eventually unwell.
Understanding the above, we now need to address “Ayni,” which is reciprocity and the exchange of energy. Anytime people engage in sexual intimacy, there is an exchange of Hucha and Sami energy. In the human condition, most of us have a mix of both energies, but of course, depending on the person’s thoughts, emotions, habits, etc., the Hucha or Sami will be more prevalent. In the Andean Tradition, we see nothing wrong with sex and enjoyment, but we pay very close attention to the energies tied to it. This also applies when we are looking for a special someone (i.e., “The One”). Since at its essence everything is energy and vibration, it is required that our vibration be aligned with what we are desiring. In other words, being intimate with someone that we know is not the person for us will distort our energy away from the type of relationship we are wanting. This doesn’t mean to abstain; it means to watch for and interact only with energies that are aligned with our desired outcomes. As I write this, I have to say that this view actually applies to anything you want to achieve (create/maintain) in your life.
By the way, both Sami and Hucha will have a gravitational effect, meaning the more you choose to interact with one or the other, the more attractive you become to that type of energy. Another effect that occurs is “tunnel vision.” The further you are from Sami or Hucha, the less you can conceive of their abundance. This means that if you tend to look for love in the wrong places and it feels hopeless, it’s not that it is, but rather that your vibration is more aligned with that Hucha. To quickly shift into Sami, the first step is to realize that the appearance of the situation is based on vibration. The second step is to stop the interaction with anything that leads to unwanted energy. Third, move! Physically and mentally move around, explore other directions, ideas, activities, etc. We do this because our desires have a vibration and as we move and change environments/situations, our signal will be picked up and quickly sent out to others of similar vibrations. This process happens instantly, but what delays it is doubting or considering going back to a Hucha situation. Doubt and consideration have vibrations of their own as well.
To help your inner self navigate towards the desired outcome, we use the nature of Sami. Its essence is “light,” and so a very useful exercise is to find a picture, photo, scene, etc., that symbolically represents the aimed outcome. Take the time to observe every detail in this image and when you feel you’ve memorized it, imagine it, breathe in and out three times at a fast pace (Holotropic Breathing), and finalize the exercise by yawning with the image still in your consciousness but now bathed in light.
