War, Conflict and a Shaman’s Stance

Recently I received a very sincere email from Michael C., a client of mine. Below is part of it and some questions he asked me:

I thought that with so much happening in Ukraine and Gaza that perhaps your readers would like you to address that. Does shamanism protest against war? Does it actively  fight against violence?   Or do shamans stay on the sidelines? do they believe that it should continue because that is what the universal energy flow is producing at the moment? In these times, do shamans resist life, or accept life as it comes?

This was my reply:

“Hi Michael, Thank you for the questions. We are not on the sidelines, but energetically an initiated Shaman is no longer part of the flow that most humans come here to experience. We believe Earth is a school, so inflicting harm, suffering, making mistakes, being a hero or a victim, etc. are all part of the experiences humans sign up for. Having said that, in Shamanism we don’t see a need for violence, much less war, especially when there are so many shady agendas and interests behind them. We use ritual to assist those that ask for help within the conflicts or catastrophes, you read about our work in those miraculous stories that inevitably find their way to the news (ie. grenades don’t explode, guns jam, attackers don’t see someone hiding in plain sight, someone comes out of an explosion without a scratch, etc). Life is an energy and Shamanism is all about existing in harmony with it. Each and every human is endowed with the Divinity of Free Will and Shamans do not interfere with it. Doing so would go against Universal Laws and that would create negative repercussions or would just temporarily delay the energy that has already been invited into manifestation. In other words a particular war can be stopped, but not the energy that produced it, which originates from dense human emotions.”

Thank you Michael for your questions. I truly enjoy communication and conversation, I believe they are key components of a harmonious relationship. I had purposely avoided addressing the “conflicts” because as a Shaman I am aware that how I perceive these situations can negatively trigger (very sensitive) people nowadays. This “sensitivity” in itself is something we also see as cyclical, meaning, it too shall pass. In the meantime we avoid engaging with it. I personally don’t observe anything of value for higher consciousness within that range of emotions. We see it as a process of this current humanity’s evolution. I must admit though, it does seem like there are some undercurrent motivations towards devolution; but that’s another subject…
