He Said: IFW and OTBA

The Two Secrets to a Blessed Life

Many of my close clients are surprised when I share the Shamanic lifestyle. This tradition teaches us to live a life imbued with symbolism. We use imagination as a deliberate tool, integrating it into our daily experience. After some time, the brain adapts, and meaningful insights begin to surface into conscious awareness.

IFW stands for “In Free Will,” and OTBA stands for “Open to a Better Alternative.” Through the process we shamans call journeying—allowing the active imagination to move freely while in a deep state of visualization—I once had an enriching conversation with a well-known ascended master.

As our exchange deepened, I asked him why so many prayers seem to go unanswered. Why does it often feel as though we are ignored? Why the apparent indifference toward those who dedicate their faith to a specific dogma?

He responded that all prayers are heard and addressed before a person even finishes the sentence. I challenged him. Based on decades of personal experience—especially in recent years—my perception had been quite the opposite.

His reply was simple: IFW and OTBA.

He explained that when a prayer deviates from another person’s free will in any way, it is automatically classified as a collective petition. The Universe begins to respond immediately, but it must also accommodate everyone affected by that request. He asked me to consider this from a different perspective: imagine how life would unfold if the prayers of everyone around you inadvertently altered your reality each time they made a request. Prayer, he said, should be communicated as individually as possible, with careful attention to avoiding infringement on another’s free will.

The second principle was OTBA. From the limited perspective of human identity, it is impossible to determine the absolute best outcome. Divinity integrates past, present, and future, including every ramification a shift in reality might create. A more effective approach is to remain open to a better alternative as the prayer is offered. This openness expands the range of potential outcomes beyond what the mind can initially conceive.

He added a subtle but important point: the Universe responds and creates in the easiest, least intrusive way. Needs are met, but often not in the exact form—whether a person, object, or situation—that was originally requested. When facing a pressing need, examine what is already present around you that may fulfill it. If that solution generates a new need, address it through prayer. This becomes a continuous process of refinement.

Constant prayer is constant communion. It is an ongoing dialogue with a higher intelligence. This, ultimately, is the practice of living in faith.

If this perspective resonates with you and you are ready to live in conscious alignment with free will and higher intelligence, take decisive action.
